One man stabbed after groups fight with pepper spray in northeast Calgary

Calgary Police Service says one man is in hospital andanotheris in police custody after a stabbing Fridaynight near the Marlborough LRT station in northeast Calgary.

Calgary Police Service says one man is in hospital andanotheris in police custody after a stabbing Fridaynight near the Marlborough LRT station in northeast Calgary.

Police told CBC News two groups of people were fighting shortly before midnight at the LRT station, which is located at 889 36 Street N.E.

The fight escalated and both groups started sprayingpepper spray at one another. Police say one man was stabbed and is now in hospital in serious but stable condition.

At the scene, police also recovered a pistol that had been hidden nearby.

Police say one person is in custody in connection with the weapon. The stabbing is still being investigated.
