5 people rushed to hospital after southeast Calgary crash

One person was thrown from a vehicle while another was pinned and rescued by firefighters in a multi-vehicle crash in southeast Calgary Monday evening that sent five people to hospital.

EMS says five people have been taken to hospitalafter a serious crash in southeast Calgary Monday evening.

The multi-vehicle crash, involving a rollover, happened shortly after 10 p.m. at Stoney Trail and 52nd Street S.E.

Four people were taken toFoothills hospital, two of them incritical, non-life-threatening condition, EMS said.

One of them was ejected from a vehicle. The other was pinned and rescued by the Calgary Fire Department.

All four patients were later reported to be in stable condition.

The fifth person was taken to the South Health Campus for precautionary reasons.

Police shut down the intersection as emergency crews responded.
