2 men charged in connection to brutal Beltline beating

Two Calgary men in their 20s have been charged in connection with abrutal beating earlier this week.

Garrett Elliott Lee Smith, 26, and Jarod Donald Henry, 22, were arrested Friday and each face a charge of aggravated assault.

A man is still in life-threatening condition after being assaulted on Sixth Street at 15th Avenue S.W. on Wednesday night. Police believe the attack was unprovoked.

Investigators executed search warrants on a vehicle and two homes in the community of Huntington Hills.

Those charges could be upgraded if the injured man dies.

The Calgary police homicide unit continues to investigate and are asking any witnesses to come forward.

Smith and Henry are scheduled to make their first court appearance Monday.

Police are still on the lookout for a third person who is believed to involved. Shes described as woman in her mid 20s, 51" with long blond hair.
