$50K food bank donation from Suncor kicks off annual fundraiser
2015 marks event's 30th year
The CBC Calgary Suncor Food Bank Drive 2015 kicks off today, and the Calgary-based energy company got the ball rolling this morning with a $50,000 donation.
Cathy Glover, the company's director of community investment, said Suncor isproud to continue itslong-standing association with the CBC's30th annual food bank fundraiser, particularly in a year that has seen so many Calgarians suddenly out of work and needing help.

"Well, you know, we're part of the city," she said. "It's been a challenging year for all of us in the oilpatch."
Calgary Food Bank CEO James McArasaid the donation will go a long way in what's shaping up to be a tough several months ahead.
"Ilove the commitment that Suncor has to making things better here in Calgary," he said.
Every $1 donation to the food bank can be turned into $5 worth of food, McAra said.
The food bank drive runs until Dec. 24.
