Mac's Midget hockey tournament player suffers traumatic injury

A teenage boy is in hospital following an incident at the Max Bell Arena on Monday where the Macs AAA Midget World Invitational Hockey Tournament is underway.

A teenage boy is in hospital following an incident at the Max Bell Arena on Monday where the Mac's AAA Midget World Invitational Hockey Tournament is underway.

Emergency crews were called to the arena just after 10 a.m. following a traumatic injury on the ice.

The boy was taken to hospital in stable non-life-threatening condition.

The 38th annual Mac's Midget tournament features 25 male and 15 female teams of players aged 15 to 17 years old from across Canada, the United States and Europe.

It runs until New Year's Day.
