2 suspects arrested after woman in her 70s assaulted and robbed

Calgary police say they have arrested two individuals alleged to have assaulted and robbed a senior in the city's southwest last month.

A woman in her 70swas waiting to cross at37th Street and Bow Trail S.W. on Nov. 24 when she was grabbed by two strangers, who allegedly kicked herand hit her over the head, causing her to fall.

The two took the senior's purse and ran towardWestbrook Mall, police said. A witness called police and followed the two suspects to a nearby CTrain station.

A second witness ran after the suspects and returned with the woman's purse, but police saidthe money had been taken.

Police issued a release with security cameraimages of the suspects and were able to identify them thanks to tips from the public.

Using a search warrant, police entered a home in the 4200 block of Bow Trail S.W. on Dec. 10.

Inside the home, they found five people including the two suspects and made the arrests.

Clothes matching those pictured on the surveillancevideowere also found in the home and seized, police said.

Justin Richard Carter, 23, has been charged with robbery and four counts of failure to comply with a release order, and was arrested on 14 outstanding warrants.

Tamara Dawn Crowchief, 29, was charged with robbery and was arrested on 13 outstanding warrants.

Both are due to appear in court on Dec. 21.
