Around 8:30p.m on Tuesday, police were called to the U of Ccampus following multiple reports of an unknown man stabbing several people.

Initially, officers were unable to locate any victims or witnesses to substantiate the reports.

But working with university staff, investigators later reviewed security camera footage that showed a suspect confronting a person then fleeing the area before officers arrived.

No one was injured at the university, police said.

However, earlier in the day, a woman reported to police she had been walking along Riverfront Avenue S.W. when a man approachedher from behind and touched her "inappropriately" without consent.

Police believe the same man is connected to both incidents.

The suspect has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of sexual assault.

The man is due to appear in court on Monday.
