Asex offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant recently attempted bank fraud in northwest Calgary, say police.

Dean Robert Zimmerman, 44, allegedly made an empty envelope deposit at an ATM in the TD Canada Trust bank on Brentwood Road N.W. on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12.

Police issued two photos of a man they believe is Zimmerman at the ATM, who appears to have shaved off his goatee for the second trip to the bank.

"There is a possibility that Zimmerman has headed to B.C., but police have not ruled out that he may still be in Calgary," said police in a news release.

Zimmerman is five feet eight inches tall, weighs205pounds and has brown eyes and a shaved head.

At the end of September, Calgary police issued a warning about Zimmerman's prison release, because he had a history of violent sexual assaults against adult women.

Zimmerman spent more than three years in a federal prison for sexual assault involving a weapon and forcible confinement.

Under the conditions of his release, he was to be monitored for two years by a police high-risk offender program. He also had to stay at an approved address and be in that location at certain times.

Police have been looking for Zimmerman since Oct. 14, when he failed to answer his door and meet with police, both breaches of the conditions of his release.

Police said anyone who sees Zimmerman shouldn't approach him, but contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
