Warrant issued for violent sex offender

Awarrant has been issued for a violent sexual offender who police say violated his prison release conditions.

Dean Robert Zimmerman, 44, isfive feet eight inches tall, weighs 205 lbs and hasbrown eyes and a shaved head.

At the end of September, Calgary police issued a warning about Zimmerman's prison release because he had a history of violent sexual assaults against adult women.

Zimmermanspent more than three years in a federal prison for sexual assault involving a weapon and forcible confinement.

Under the conditions of his release, he was to be monitored for two years by a police high-risk offender program. He also had to stay at an approved address and be in that location at certain times.

"When officers conducted a check in the early hours of this morning [Wednesday] Zimmermanfailed to present himself and is therefore in breach of his conditions," police said in a news release.
