Parents whose children are in a crowded southwest school are getting another chance to voice their opinions about moving older grades to another elementary school.

The Calgary Board of Education is retreating on a decision to move Grades 5 and 6 from West Springs School to Rosscarrock School.

In a decision released this week, Calgary Board of Education official Susan Church wrote that the communication was inconsistent during the consultation process and a private meeting was held outside of the consultation process.

Overall, in my view, the process used contained procedural irregularities that castdoubt on the decision making process, which ultimately undermines the fairnessof the decision itself, she wrote.

This is a difficult decision because I believe the decision itself is reasonable. It accounts for the long-term capacity issues at the school. It accounts for future development in the area.

Her decision comes after a second appeal by upset parents. West Springs School will remain a kindergarten to Grade 6 school for the 2014-2015 school year which was part of the original decision and consultation will start over again.
