Police search for $10K wheelchair stolen from 84-year-old Calgarian

Calgary police are asking anyone who deals with or is looking for second-hand wheelchairs to be on the lookout.

Theft happened between Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 in the garage of the victim's northeast home

Calgary police are asking anyone who deals withor is looking forsecond-hand wheelchairs to be on the lookout.

It comes after ablack Invacare TDX-SP electricwheelchair, worth almost $10,000, was stolen from a 84-year-old woman who fell victim to a break and enter sometime between Oct. 11 and Oct. 18.

"I just don't know who would do such a thing to me," said the victim,VernaJanzen, who can't stand, let alone walk without a chair.

"I hope whoever took it, bring it back to me without damage. And if you need one, apply for one properly. Other than that, just please bring it back to me in proper condition and don't steal, that's against the law."

The wheelchair which has the serial number 09GE000007 was taken from the garage of her northeast homein the 1500 block of Mardale Way after an unknown culprit priedopen the main door.

Police are looking for any information that could help describe or locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or by contacting Crime Stoppers.
