Woman dies after being struck by vehicle in southeast Calgary

A 57-year-old woman has died after beinghit by a truck in the southeast Calgary community of Valleyfieldon Friday night, police say.

Investigators said it wasaround 8:15 p.m. whena black GMC Sierradriven by a 38-year-old mantravelling east on 50th Avenue S.E. toward22nd Street S.E. hit a woman as she was crossing the road.

She was taken to hospital but died a short while later, officers said.

The driver of the GMCwas not hurt and remained at the scene of the collision. Investigators note speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in the incident.

Officers said anyone whomay have witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of it is asked to contact police.
