Young grizzly bear captured near Okotoks

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers have captured a grizzly bear just north of Okotoks, Alta., after issuing a warning in the area.

Bear had been prowling the outskirts of the community for several days

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers have captured a grizzly bear just north of Okotoks, Alta., after issuinga warning in the area.

The juvenile bear had been prowling the outskirts of the southern Albertacommunityfor several days.

"That would definitely be grizzly bear habitatmany, many years ago, but it's unusualfor us to see grizzly bears rightaround Okotoks itself," said Fish and Wildlife officer Ron Weeb.

Hesays it isa healthy bear that was just feeding on natural food sources in the area.

Wildlife officers set up some traps to aid in capturing the animal. Thebear will be relocatedto a remote area somewhere north of Canmore on Thursday.

Okotoks is 45 kilometres south of Calgary.
