1 man dead, 4 others hospitalized from suspected CO poisoning

The medical examiner is investigating a potential case of carbon monoxide poisoning after a man was found dead in a home and four others were rushed to hospital Sunday evening.

Exposure could be related to a furnace or wood-burning stove, police say

The medical examiner is investigating a potential case of carbon monoxide poisoning after aman was found dead in a an Edmonton home and four others were rushed to hospital Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were called to a home near 120th Avenue and 94th Street about 6:45 p.m. where they found a 36-year-old man dead inside.

Another man and three women were rescued from the home and rushed to hospital.

ATCO Gas responded to the scene as well.

The CO poisoning could have come from a wood-burning stove or fireplace or a furnace, Edmonton Police Service Const. Don Lynass said.

"We're still awaiting the findings of the medical examiner, who's attended the scene and will be conducting his own inquiries," Lynass said.
