3 teens charged with animal cruelty over mutilated cat

Edmonton Police have laid charges relating to animal cruelty against three teenagers after finding a mutilated cat.

Officers and firefighters were called to the scene of a small fire in the Mill Creek Ravine between Kassa Road and 35 Avenue, at approximately 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13.

Police say whenthey arrived they found the remains of a mutilated cat, bloody scissors and an animal crate nearby.

Two 18-year-old men and a 14-year-old boy were found shortly.

Edmonton Police spokesman said the pet belonged to acquaintances of the teenagers. They were left shocked by the incident, he said.

Theyre traumatized I mean this is a cat, a 15-year family pet, so an older animal, a very docile animal, loving animal and it was stolen from their house, Pattison said.

All three have admitted to the crime but have not given any reason for it, according to police.
