Accused in fatal LRT beating pleads not guilty

The man accused in the fatal beating of a passenger on the LRT last December pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder during a court appearance Thursday morning.

The man accused in the fatal beating of a passenger on the LRT last December pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder during a court appearance Thursday morning.

Jeremy Newborn, 29, also had a preliminary hearing set for next February. Newborn will remain in custody.

John Hollar, 29, was critically injured in the beating that began as a northbound train left the Coliseum LRT station on Dec. 28th. He died in hospital two days later.
