Are you a parking offender? Confess your parking sins here

The city of Edmonton is setting its sights on people who park in handicapped spaces for a few minutes to pop into the store or pick someone up.

"Even if 'it's just five minutes,' or 'it's really cold today,' let's remember that there is no excuse for making mobility an even greater challenge for those with disabilities," Councillor Bev Esslinger wrote in a release.

The city has proclaimed November 24 to 28 as Accessible Parking Awareness Week and is reminding drivers that lazy is not a disability.

While you may not be a handicap space hoodlum, even the most conscientious driver has a parking tale that they arent proud of. Whether through laziness, lateness or just plain ignorance, weve all left ourvehicle where it isnt supposed to be.

As a former delivery driver, CBC's Scott Lilwall admits to occasionally lifting the hood on his van to make it appear as though it was out of service, when in fact he was simply making a delivery.

And speaking of deliveries, web writerCaitlin Hanson once convinced her friend to pretend she was pregnant so they could run into a mall for snacks during the busy Christmas shopping season.

And here's some of your parking sins:

"I thoroughly enjoy parking my full-sized SUV in the areas that say "reserved for low emission vehicles" outside IKEA, parents with children are also always convenient places to park."

"Threespots downtown with truck and trailer, not putting anything in any meter."

"At the airport playing a slow game of chase with parking attendant as he shooed me from place to place while I was picking someone up. The poor guy was run ragged."

"If a parking lot offers parking for "expectant mothers" I will park there and waddle out of the car as if I'm sixmonths along. The key is in the uncomfortable looking walk and occasional hand-on-belly move."

"I found two parking lots downtownone that ticketed in the morning and one that ticketed in the afternoon. Every day at lunch, I would move my car to the opposite lot. I avoided tickets and paying for an entire summer."

"I bumped into a vehicle in a parking lot and drove away. To be fair, it was my neighbour and I had seen him do the same to several vehicles on my street."

Not everyone gets away with it though. Here's some people who got the punishment that we all deserve:

"Parked in a business's reserved spot while going to college, they had me towed, I hadn't realized it was a 24/7 reserve. My bad.I even parked right under the sign that said it, I just didn't read it."

Plugged a parking meter and overstayed by 1/2 hour. Got a parking ticket and paid it.

Make a U-turn on a signal and got ticket right away.
