Man arrested after hidden camera found in men's change room at U of A hospital gym

Edmonton police have arrested a man after a hidden camera was found in the men's shower stall of a gym at the University of Alberta hospital.

Edmonton police have arrested a man after a hidden camera was found in the men'sshower stall ofa gym at the University of Alberta hospital.

According to a notice posted by management,a hidden camera was found the morning ofNov. 28 in a shower stall in the men's locker room at the Pulse Generator Fitness and Recreation Club, a private, staff-only gym within the hospital.

The camera was removed the same day.

According to the noticefrom gym management, theEdmonton Police Service determined the camera was in the shower stall from Nov. 27 after 5 p.m.to Nov. 28 at around 9 a.m.

Seven men were filmed by the camera, the notice said.

Police confirmed the camera was found in the shower stalland that one man has been arrested and charged with voyeurism. No other suspects are believed to be involved.

Alberta Health Services spokesman Kerry Williamson said they take employee privacy "very seriously," and contacted EPS immediately upon being made aware of the camera.

"This alleged incident is distressing, and we encourage those feeling distress to reach out to employee andfamily assistance services, or other supports provided through professional colleges and unions," Williamson said in an email.

A "full sweep" of the gym was completed upon finding the camera, and no other cameras were found, according to the notice from gym management. The man arrested no longer has access to the gym.

Pulse Generator Fitness and Recreation Club management could not be immediately reached for comment on Saturday.
