Two would-be thieves met their match in a stubborn bank machinein a St. Albert gas station this week.

A security video posted on the St. Albert Crime Awareness Facebook page shows the pair tryingtwice to pull anATM throughthe frontwindow of agas station convenience storyearly Tuesday morning.

ATM heist goes awry when would-be thieves fail to secure bank machine with strapping

Twice they strapped the ATM to their black pickup truck, twice the strap came loose, fluttering to the pavement.

The two eventually abandoned their quarry, but not before causing extensive damage to the ATM and the store on Fairview Boulevard.

The video shows the botched heisttook less thansix minutes.

RCMPsay theyresponded to an alarm at 4 a.m., but the suspects were already gone.
