Blackfalds car crash kills 2 teens

RCMP found the vehicle on a gravel road in Blackfalds, north of Red Deer. Three people were thrown from the vehicle, and two more were found in the car. The cause of the single-vehicle collision is under investigation.

An 18-year-old manfromPenhold, Altaand a 16-year-old girl fromSpringbrook, Alta. were killed inan early morning single-vehicle carcrash on a gravel road inBlackfalds, north of Red Deer.

There were five people in the car and three were thrown from the vehicle around 4:30 a.m. on July 2, according to RCMP.

Of the three that survived, two were taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital with serious injuries, but there are no details on their condition.

The other survivor, who wasnot thrown from the vehicle, was also taken to the hospital but was letout a short while later.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and RCMPare in contact with witnesses. Officers are still trying to determine if speed or alcohol were factors.
