Edmonton-area man charged with foreign worker fraud

An Edmonton-area man is facing charges following a two-year investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency.

A Leducman with an immigrationbusiness in Edmonton is facing charges following a two-year investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency.

Paul Gestano McKenney is charged with 11 countsunder the Immigration and Refugee Protection Actand one countunder the Criminal Code.

Canada Border Servicesaccuses McKenney of submitting documents with forged signatures in order tobring temporary foreign workers to Canada.

As a result, three foreign nationals arrived in Canada in 2009 with employment contracts. The agency beganinvestigating in October 2009after receiving a complaint saying that a signature of a dead person had been forged.

Investigators searched McKenney's businessJune 1, 2010 and seized electronic documents.

McKenny will appearin Edmontoncourt July 19.
