Edmonton man charged with 3 sexual assaults

A 29-year-old Edmonton man faces charges in connection with three alleged sexual assaults, and police are looking for other possible victims.

A 29-year-old Edmonton man faces charges in connection with three alleged sexual assaults, and police saythey're looking for other possible victims.

Matthew McKnight, 29,has been charged withsexual assault causing bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault and one count of unlawful confinement.

Police say all three alleged assaults happened at McKnight'shome.

  • On April 1, a 17-year-old girl left Knoxville's Tavernwith friends to attend an "after party" atMcKnight'sresidence, and was allegedly sexually assaulted.
  • On April 15, a22-year-old woman left Knoxville's Tavern. The womanwent to McKnight's home with herfriends,where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
  • On July 6, a21-year-old woman left the Old Strathcona Rackand went toMcKnight'shome, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

On his Twitter account,McKnightidentifies himself as the director of sales and marketing forUrbanSparqHospitality, the company that owns both Knoxville's Tavern and Old StrathconaRack.

Urban Sparq Hospitality manager Brendan Crooks released a brief statement Wednesday night.

"We take this matter extremely seriously and will fully cooperate with Edmonton Police in any manner they ask us to," the statement said.

Police say they have been in contact with the company.

Detectives from the police sexual assault section began investigating after a complainant reported an incident to police on April 1.

Police say they want to speak to anyone with information aboutMcKnight, aboutthe alleged assaults, or about other possible assaults the accused may have committed.
