Edmonton parking meter rates to rise

Parking meter rates in Edmonton are going up 50 cents an hour starting June 1.

The new rate in high demand areas will be $3.50 an hour. In medium and low-demand areas, the rates will be $3.00 an hour and $2.50 an hour respectively.

On Saturdays, meters cost $1.00 an hour.

The city says on-street parking needs to be priced appropriately in comparison to parkades and parking lots.
