Edmonton Ski club gets emergency funding from city

The Edmonton Ski Club is getting the $338,000 in emergency funding it requested from city council.

The non-profit, which operates at Gallagher Hill, doesn't have enough money to operate this season. Council approved the emergency funds Tuesday.The group is asking for an additional $912,000 in help from 2017 to 2021.

But Mayor Don Iveson said council needs more information before handing over more cash.

"It's a great asset. We don't want to lose it," Iveson said.

"But we need to see a bit deeper, more thorough business case before we put a whole lot more money on the table in terms of a multi-year commitment."

The emergency funding will cover staff costs, pay off debt and buy new equipment.
