Edmonton to fly pride flag for duration of Olympic games

Thepride flag is now flying in front of city hall after asocial media campaign urgingthe city tosend a message of solidarity with the LGBT community in Russia during the Sochi Olympics

The cityraised the flag Friday morning.

It will fly on the community pole on the southwest side of the plaza in front of city hall for the duration of the Winter Olympics.

Edmonton joins other Canadian cities such as Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa and St. John's in raising the rainbow flag.
