Edmonton warms up for ITU World Triathlon Championships

Three of CBC Edmontons personalities got a taste of what it takes to complete in a triathlon sort of at lunchtime on Friday.

The "real" triathlon will be held in August

Three of CBC Edmontons personalities got a taste of what it takes to complete in a triathlon sort of at lunchtime on Friday.

Producer Paul Moore tore through the City Hall reflecting pool wearing a wetsuit, while meteorologist Stephanie Barsby raced on a tricycle and Radio Active host Portia Clark sprinted aroundWinston Churchill Square to win the race.

The mini-race was held in the square as part of the lead up to Edmonton hosting the 2014 TransCanada Corp. Grand Final of the ITU World Triathlon Championships in August.

The August event is expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes from across the world, and will be broadcast to 450 million people.
