Small brewers in Alberta received some good news this week.

Alberta has changed the legislation fornew breweries, something that small brewers say will make a big difference.

Micro-brewers in Alberta are supportingthe province's decision to drop a minimum requirement for producing beer.

Under the new rules, they will be also able to open shops and bars to sell their products away from their breweries.

Now, the Alberta Small Breweries Association is in talks to get sales taxes exemption, which would allow them to compete with imported beers for Albertan sales.

Graham Sherman drove all the way from Calgary to St. Albert to get his brewer's licence.

As the CBCs Matthew Kupfer reports in the video above, the new legislation will allow Sherman and his business partner to open a new brewery.
