Man dead after workplace incident near Redwater, Alta.

A second man is dead after a workplace incident near Redwater, Alta. on Wednesday.

Another worker also died Wednesday in a separate workplace incident near Blackfalds, Alta.

A man is dead after a workplace incident near Redwater, Alta. on Wednesday.

The man was working in a tower at the Pembina pipeline plant, using a breathing mask with supplied oxygen when he became distressed, anOccupational Health and Safety spokeswoman said.

A safety watch employee attempted CPR but was unable to revive the worker, who died on scene.

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating.

Redwater is about60 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

This was the second workplace death in Alberta on Wednesday. A contractor at the Joffre Site near Red Deer died on the way to hospital after an incident in the morning.

Alberta Labour spokesperson Lauren Welsh said workers were taking apart a crane at Nova Chemicals' PE1 Expansion Projectwhen a piece of equipment hit him.

The contractor'sname and age have not yet been released. It's also not known which company he worked for.

There were 125 fatalities resulting from workplace-related incidents in Alberta last year, according to the Workers' Compensation Board.
