Man wanted in Sexsmith murder case arrested in B.C.

A man wanted for second-degree murder plus three counts of aggravated assault in connection with stabbings in Sexsmith, Alta., has been arrested.

Suspect also charged with three counts of aggravated assault

A man wanted forsecond-degree murder plusthree counts of aggravated assault in connection with stabbings in Sexsmith, Alta.,has been arrested.

Investigatorshad been searching for Wendlandsince Sunday, when policewere called to The Alamo Barat the Sexsmith Hotelshortly after 1a.m.

Four men had been stabbed there. One died from his injuriesand three were taken to hospital.

Policeobtained a Canada-wide warrant for Wendland's arrest. RCMPissued a statement the next day, saying they believed Wendland had fled Sexsmith headedfor the Lower Mainland area of B.C.

RCMPsaythey receivedseveral tips from the public in response to that media release.

Early Wednesday, police trackedWendlandto a residence inChilliwack and arrested himwithout incident.
