Nearly 70 wide-eyed rookie MLA's will be at the legislature this morning to learn some of the details of their new jobs.

"It was so neat driving up here," said new Airdrie MLA Angela Pitt Monday. "I drove around the grounds last night and I just feel so honoured to be able to work here with the rest of the elected officials."

Pitt and the other newly-elected politicians will get a briefing from Speaker Gene Zwozdesky Tuesday on budgets and house procedures.

Yesterday the opposition Wildrose appointed six members to its shadow cabinet, while the PCs announced Ric McIver as the party's interim leader following Jim Prentice's abrupt departure on election night.

Pitt said she's anxious to get down to business.

"I just want to know how to initially organize everything; how it works; how we can really get down to working in the constituency and working with people."

It's expected a date will soon be set for the swearing-in ceremony for premier-designate Rachel Notley.
