The new Walterdale Bridge construction project is on time and on budget, according to city officials who provided an update on Tuesday.

The $155-million bridge across the North Saskatchewan River is about 40 per cent complete. The bridge is scheduled to open for traffic in November 2015.

The bridge will have two arches. The steel pieces are now being manufactured in South Korea and will be delivered early next year, where they will be assembled on site.

Every piece has to be custom-made. And every time there's a little change or something you have to fix those puzzle pieces as well, so it's extremely challenging but very exciting, said project manager Ryan Teplitsky.

The new structure is replacing the 100-year-old Walterdale Bridge, which will be demolished.

Construction on the new Walterdale Bridge is now expected to be complete by the fall of 2015. (City of Edmonton )
