Northern Alberta grow-op discovered after child accidentally dials 911

A 911 hang-up call has led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation at a northern Alberta home, a drug possession charge against a woman at that location and an arrest warrant for her common-law partner.

A 911 hang-up call has led to the discovery ofa marijuana grow operation at a northern Alberta home, a drug possession charge against a woman at that location and an arrestwarrant for her common-law partner.

RCMP say officers checked out the callTuesdaymorning at aproperty south of Athabasca, where a 32-year-old woman said heryoung child was playing with the phone and had accidentally dialled911.

The woman then admitted she had been involved in a physicalaltercation with her 35-year-old partner, who was no longer in theresidence, although his 15-year-old son, five-year-old daughter anda friend were there at the time.

Police say a search turned up of a grow operation being completedin the garage, a basement room being used to dry more than 13 kilograms ofmarijuana and several guns, including a prohibited weapon.

The man, who is under orders not to possess guns, has not beenfound and a warrant is out for his arrest on several outstandingcharges.

The woman has been released, pending aJune 26court appearancein Athabasca.
