Pauly the 6-legged cat prepares for vital surgery
Surgery planned to remove two extra legs
A long journey took Paulythe cat from the streets of Edmonton to a south-side vet clinic.
Now his new caregivers are hopeful he'll have an even longer life ahead of him.
It wasn't long ago that Pauly was discovered on the street, with two extra deformed legs sticking out of his chest.
"We're surprised he's lived so long. He's pretty unusual," said veterinarianKate Boddington, who is caring for Pauly at the Sourth Edmonton Animal Hospital.
Since arriving at the hospital, the six-leggedfeline has had a few surgeries to help him get around on his other, stronger legs.
The next step is to finally remove the two extra legs.
"We wanted to stage his operations so he wouldn't be under too long, and he wouldn't have too much done for him at the same time," Boddingtonsaid.
While shecalled Pauly's case "maybe one in one-hundred thousand," she said she was hopeful about his prognosis after the legs are removed.
