RCMP are hoping to return an urn of cremated remainsto its rightful owner.

Police were contacted about the ashes on May 7after they were discovered near Range Road 283 and Township Road 375a in Red Deer County, along with a discarded washer and dryer and some clothing.

A citizen called RCMP after discovering the urn while inspecting the household trash.

Police retrieved the urn. It didn't have any identifying marks, which would have helped police determine who it belongs to, RCMP said in a news release Monday.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the urn to contact Blackfalds RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
