Sawyer Robison, the man accused in the shooting of two Mounties near Killam, Alta., was denied bail on Wednesday.

Robison, 27,is charged withtwo counts of attempted murder and 15 weaponcharges.

The weapon chargesrelate to three handguns and three rifles all either restricted or prohibited weapons, four with the serial numbers removed. Robison has pleaded not guilty to all 17 charges.

RCMP recovered a fourth rifle in a rural area near Killam last week after receiving an anonymous tip.

Defencelawyer Brian Beresh is considering an appeal of the judge's decision to keep Robison in custody.

"In my view, this decision opens the door for possibility of release," Beresh said outside court. "We're going to examine that possibility and also consider whether or not to take a review or an appeal of the decision."

Constables Sheldon Shah and Sidney Gaudette were shot and wounded on Feb. 7 while they were executing a search warrant for a weapon at the rural home of Robison's uncle, Brad Clark.

Clark was found dead in the house after the shoot-out.

The two officers were airlifted to hospital with gunshot wounds and released about a week later.

Robison fled the scene and went into hiding until his arrest three days later.

His next court date is scheduled for May 1st in Killam.
