Shawn Hennessey given day parole

A man convicted for his role in the shooting deaths of four Alberta Mounties in Mayerthorpe nine years ago will be seeking day parole today at a hearing in central Alberta.

A man convicted for his role in the shootingdeaths of four Alberta Mounties in Mayerthorpe nine years ago has
been granted day parole.

Shawn Hennessey dabbed his eyes as the parole board ruled he willonly have to report to a halfway house in the evenings.

The board says the 36-year-old has taken responsibility for hisactions and shown empathy for his victims.

Hennesseyand his brother-in-law, DennisCheeseman, pleadedguilty to manslaughter for giving JamesRoszkoa rifle and a ride toRoszko'sfarm nearMayerthorpein 2005.

Roszkothen ambushed and killed the four officers before hekilled himself.
