An Alberta family has three months to remove Eli, their pet pot-bellied pig. from their home in Sherwood Park.

On Friday afternoon, Court of Queen's Bench Justice Wayne Renkegranted an injunction to force owner Michelle Kropp to remove Eli by Aug. 15.

Kropp was first issued a ticket by StrathconaCounty bylaw in June 2014 after following up on a complaint from one of her neighbours.

Kroppargued Eli is the family pet. However, the county maintainedthat keeping the animal inside the house contravenes their bylaw prohibiting livestock in residential homes.

Kropp contested the ticket in court but was found guilty last November.

Last month, the Court of Queen's Bench ruled against Kroppby upholding her conviction. The injunction now forces her to remove the animal.

Court was told that Kropp intends to move Eli to a farm in Ontario.
