Storage of date rape drug GHB in pop bottles worry police

Four Edmontoniansare under arrest after policefoundmore than five litres of the so-called date rape druggamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB)stored in two-litre soft drinkbottles.

The way the GHB was being stored in pop bottles is very concerning," said Sgt. Grant Best in a news release. "If a child, or even an adult, unknowingly took a drink, the consequences could have been fatal.

The colourless and odourless liquid,estimated to be worth more than $5,500, was seized last Thursday,days after the Edmonton policerecovered 30litres of GHBstored in three gas cansduring adistracted-driving traffic stop in west Edmonton.

Police also seizedcocaine worth $11,300,MDMA worth $20,000 and$5,240 in cash in Thursday's drug bust.

The four susectsface a total of 10 drug-related charges.
