The Wildrose Party is promising to give voters the right to recall MLAs, allow MLAs to vote freely in the legislature and change freedom of information laws so Albertans can access government documents more easily.

The party's Alberta Accountability Act will also set fixed election dates, give voters the right to initiate referenda and claw-back acabinetsalary increase.

Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith saysmeasures will help clean up a culture of corruption and entitlement from the long-governing Progressive Conservative Party.

"They have been in power too long and it's time for Albertans to clean house," she said in Edmonton on Monday.

The Accountability Act would force government to prove why information should stay private, instead of the current system where citizens have to make a case to have documents released, Smith said.

She believes that $125,000 is a fair annual salary for MLAs.
