Vader in court in case of missing Alberta couple

The lone suspect in the disappearance of St. Albert, Alta., couple Lyle and Marie McCann almost two years ago made his first court appearance this morning.

The lone suspect in the disappearance ofSt. Albert, Alta.,couple Lyle and Marie McCann almost two years ago made his first court appearance this morning.

Travis Vader, 40,faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the elderly couple. They were last seen on July 3, 2010, heading to British Columbia.

Their burned-out motorhome was discovered two days later near Edson, but their bodies have never been found.

Vader was identified as a suspect early in the investigation but wasn't charged until last month.

Heis in jail on unrelated chargesand will appear by video link June 5 inEdson provincial court, two hours west of Edmonton.
