Teen charged after goose nest destroyed

A Sherwood Park, Alta. teen is facing a charge under the Migratory Birds Act for destroying the nest of a Canada goose.

ASherwood Park, Alta. teen is facing a charge under The Migratory Birds Convention Act for destroying the nest of a Canada goose.

Last Friday, a group of young people had gathered in a park area near the Sherwood Park arena around 3 p.m., said RCMP.

A nearby resident called police after seeing one of theyouths approached the nest, scare off the goose, remove one of the eggs and destroy the nest.

The goose was unharmed.

A 16-year-oldis scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on June 28.

It is illegal to harassmigratory birds such as geese, albatross, heron, crane and gullsor interfere withnests or eggs.
