A panel discussion on the legacy of residential schools

During theseventh and final meetingof the Truth and Reconciliation Commission underway in Edmonton,thousands of aboriginal people will recount over the next four days their painfuland often disturbingexperience of living atresidential schools.

Some of the aboriginal children were sexually and physically abused. All were taken from their families.

Today at noon, CBC will explore how accepting and acknowledging ourresidential school legacy can bring ourcommunities together and make them stronger.

CBC will livestream the panel here at noon Thursday. Reporter Scott Lilwall will also live blog from the event.

Our "Circle of Change" panel featuresspiritual leader and Cree Elder Fred Campiou, contemporary Cree Metis artist Dawn Marie Marchand, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, and the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton Richard Smith.
