Wetaskiwin day home worker charged after child pornography investigation

A 40-year-old man who worked part-time at a Wetaskiwin child-care day home has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

A 40-year-old man who worked part-time at aWetaskiwinchild-careday homehas beencharged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Darren Reilly is also employed as a correctional peace officer, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said in a news release Friday.

Tykes and Tots Day Home in Wetaskiwin was searched by ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation team on Thursday with help from Wetaskiwin RCMP.

The day home has been operating since 2001, ALERTsaid.

Investigators are looking to speak with families who may have used theday homein the past. Previous clients are asked to contact ICE investigators at780-509-3371.

Police say there is currently no information to suggest children at the day home were victimized. But in the interest of identifying potential victims, ICEis actively exploring the possibility.

Reilly is accused of downloading and accessing child sexual exploitation materials.

ICE began the investigation based on referrals from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Reilly was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
