ATV rider popping wheelies in Hamilton's east end charged with stunt driving: police
Oakville man, 31, has had licence suspended and quad seized for 7 days
A Hamilton man who was allegedly revving the engine of an ATV and popping wheelies in Hamilton's east end has been charged with stunt driving.
Witnessestold police the ATV and a dirt bikewere heading west on Barton Street near Parkdale Avenue around 8 p.m. Thursday.
A plain clothes member of the police High Enforcement Action Team locatedthe driver of the off-road vehicle revving the engine at a red light "to draw attention," according to a police media release.
Once the light turned green, police say the quad took off at a high rate of speed, with the driver doing several wheeliesin live lanes of traffic.
Police stopped the ATVat the intersection of King Street West and Spring Street.
The 31-year-old Oakville man's licence has been suspended for seven days and the the quad has also been seized for a week.
