Hamilton police say a local sushi restaurant was burglarized five times in just a one-day period over the long weekend, with the same man breaking in to steal booze each time.

Investigators first got a call from the restaurant's owner on Saturday.

"The owner noticed his door had been forcibly opened and several bottles of alcohol missing from the business bar fridge," a police news release reads.

They checked the shop's security tapes, and spotted the same guy breaking in, grabbing alcohol, and then leaving, police say.

The man, who has no fixed address, was recognized as someone who regularly hangs out in the area, Const. Lorraine Edwards told CBC News.

He was then arrested not long after.

A 30-year-old man now faces charges for five counts of breaking and entering, and three counts of failing to comply with his probation.
