Worker hospitalized after accident at water treatment plant in Burlington, Ont., has died

According to the president of Control Chem Canada, the worker who collapsed after inhaling fumes at awater treatment supplier in Burlington, Ont., last week, has died.

The worker who collapsed after inhaling fumes at a water treatment supplier in Burlington, Ont., last weekhas died.

Douglas Fast, president of Control Chem Canada, confirmed toCBC Hamilton that the manhad died, but refused toanswer other questions.

Ministry of Labour spokesperson Anuradha Dhar said in an email the worker died on Sunday.

"Our thoughts and condolences for worker's family, friends, and loved ones," Dhar's email read.

It's unclearhow this will impact the company's own investigation or theOntarioMinistry of Labour investigationinto the accident.

On April 4, police and paramedics said they arrived atControl Chem on Harvester Road just before noon.

Fast previouslytold CBC Hamiltona production batch makerwas "dispensing one material into a second larger container" when"he was overcome by fumes and fell."

Tom Stirling, deputy chief of paramedic services in Halton, previouslysaid the worker had "life-threatening injuries" and was taken to a local hospital.

The ministry previouslysaid no orders or requirements have been issued to Control Chem since at least last year.
