New COVID-19 deaths in Hamilton include someone in their 30s

Hamilton reported two new deaths linked to COVID-19 on Wednesday: one person being in their 50s and the other in their 30s.

Since the pandemic started, eight people in their 50s with COVID-19 have died, according to City of Hamilton data, as well as two people in their 30s.Three hundred and eighty people in totalhave lost their lives in Hamilton.

The city also reported 53 newcases for a total of 20,224 since March 2020. Of these, 751 are considered active and just over 92 per cent have been resolved.

There have been 294,379 vaccine doses administered in Hamilton.

Hamilton Health Sciences is treating 47 patients with COVID-19 and 22 are in the intensive-care unit (ICU). St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton is treating 37, and 24 are in the ICU with COVID-19-related criticalillness.

Hamilton outbreaks

Two new outbreaks have been declared one atKarma Candy Inc. and one at the Pizza Pizza at 50 Dundurn St. S. Two staff and three staff, respectively,tested positive at each workplace.

One more person has tested positive as part of theVillage Apartments outbreak at 151 Queen St. N., where 71people have had the virus.

The outbreakat Tiny Hoppers Early Learning Centres' Stoney Creek Paramount locationhas grown to 12 cases,Conway Opportunities Home Inc. has increased to 13 casesand Heritage Green Nursing Home has also expanded to 10.

Two other outbreaks are now declared as over:

• Kromet International Inc. at 20 Milburn Rd. with nine cases.
• Mohawk MedbuyCorporation at 60 Chedmac Dr. with three cases.

Brant

Twelve more people have COVID-19 in Brant. The county has seen3,191 cases overall. Of these, 92 cases are active and 3,079have been marked as resolved.

Twenty people have died, and seven others are in hospital with COVID-19.

The county has administered82,066 vaccination doses.

Haldimand-Norfolk

There were three new cases of COVID-19 in the counties ofHaldimand and Norfolk as of Wednesday.

They've reported a combined2,620cases throughout the pandemic. Active cases have dipped down to 70, and2,499 people have recovered.

Forty-five deaths are listed as being related toCOVID-19.

The number of vaccine doses administered was at 54,049. The health unit saysit will run dedicated COVID-19 vaccination clinics for youth aged 12 and over, as well astheir households. They'll run theweeks of June 14 and June 21, the unit said, with more details to be announced.

Niagara

The number of active cases of COVID-19 dropped to 882 in Niagara on Tuesday, with 40 new ones added.There have been a total of15,603 cases seen duringthe pandemic, of which 14,316have beenresolved.

Four hundred and fivepeople have died.

The region has administered265,488 vaccine doses to Niagara residents.

Halton

One more person in Halton has died, bringing deaths during the pandemic to 224. The region reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 for a total of17,363cases overall.

There are 352 active cases and 16,787people who recovered.

Ten of the new cases were reported in Burlington, which has seen 4,374total.

There have been 306,324vaccine dosesadministered, of which 270,914went to Halton residents.
