Police say they've identified man found dead on rooftop of Jackson Square

Police say they've identifieda man found dead on the rooftop of Jackson Square just hours after asking the public for help figuring out who he is.

The service shared a sketch of the man and photos of his clothes Friday, asking for anyone who knew who he was to contact them. A few hours later, police said they had their answer.

"The 28-year-old male liveda transient lifestyle with ties to the Hamilton area," stated a media release. "The male was known to frequently attend the downtown core."

Police say the man was identified following several calls from community members and that his next of kin have been notified.

The man was one of two peoplefound lying on the groundabove the mall by a passerby around 8 p.m. on May 2, according to investigators.

The service says both men were initially unresponsive, but the passerby was able to wake one of them, who walked away before police arrived.

The second man, however, was "lifeless and pronounced dead by paramedics," say police.

Police initially said the manwho died did not have any identification and that there have not been any inquiries or missing people that match his profile.

A description of the man was provided after his body was sent to theCentre of Forensic Sciences.

"It is believed that his lifestyle was a contributing factor in his death and police arenot investigating this as suspicious," saidpolice.
