2 men face charges after patrol officer uncovers more than $26K worth of drugs

Two Hamilton men are facing drug trafficking charges after an officer on patrol uncovered an estimated $26,800 worth of meth, codeine and fentanyl.

Police also seized more than $5K in cash

Two Hamilton men are facing drug trafficking charges after an officer on patrol uncovered an estimated $26,800 worth of meth, codeine and fentanyl.

The drug seizure came after the officer saw a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu pull out of an alley near the corner of Burton and Emerald streets around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

Police say the officer confirmed the vehicle's plates were registered to a rental company in London before they pulled it over.

Once the car was stopped, investigators determined the two men inside were wanted on outstanding warrants from both Hamilton and Ottawa police.

They also founddrugs with an estimated street value in the the thousands and more than$5,000 in cash.

A 31-year-oldman is charged with three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of the proceeds of a crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with probation.

A 37-year-old man is faces a single count foreach of the same charges.
