Drunk man on Hamilton bus pulls hunting knife out of shorts

A drunk man with a hunting knife was arrested Saturday evening after threatening passengers on a Hamilton bus.

A drunk man with a hunting knife was arrested Saturday evening after threatening passengers on a Hamilton bus.

The incident happened around 7 p.m., while the bus was in the Area of Queenston Road and Rosewood Road. A man on the bus was making "unwanted comments" towards a female passenger, police say.

When two men on the bus told the man that his "behavior was unwanted," the "situation escalated" when the man pulled out a large hunting knife from inside a sheath in his shorts, police say.

The bus driver was alerted, and he stopped the bus and opened the doors.

Many of the passengers got off, including the man with the knife. On his way out, he hit one of the men he'd been shouting at with the same hand that held the knife, police say.

He continued down the road before police picked him up at Cochrane Road and Queenston Road.

A 52-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and assault with a weapon. No one was injured. Alcohol was a factor, police say.
